This is a full day driving experience in classic Australian Muscle Cars. If you, or someone you know, truly appreciates the golden age of Australian motoring (Torana's, GTHO's, the Brock Commodore), then there is simply no better gift than the Australian Muscle Car Drive Experience.
These cars are superbly restored examples of the finest cars in Australian motoring history - true blue Aussie muscle cars from the 70's, 80's and 90's. You'll not only have the chance to gawp and touch the cars, you'll also get behind the wheel and drive around some of Melbourne's twisty back roads.
On arrival at the garages you'll have a detailed overview of each vehicle, including their unique handling characteristics. Sign some forms and look at the route maps before being issued the keys to the first car of the day - and you're ready to hit the road. You can bring a non-driving guest if you wish for an additional $149.00 (including Lunch). You will swap cars throughout to make sure you all have a chance to drive all of the cars. Lunch is included.
You'll cruise down the exhilarating country roads and scenic passes of the Mornington Peninsula, swapping vehicles along the way to ensure you have adequate driving time in all vehicles.
Drivers must be 25 or over (no restrictions for non-driving guests/passengers).

Fitness and Experience
- Drivers must be aged 25 years with a valid manual driving license. No restrictions for passengers
- Full drivers licence (no P Platers, sorry)
- We reserve the right to perform a breath test before driving. A 0.00 blood alcohol limit will be observed so avoid alcohol the night before
What to Bring/Wear
- A credit card imprint for $1500 will be taken on the day to cover an excess fee in the event of an accident
- You must bring your driving licence with you on the day
- Wear flat soled shoes and clothes suitable for the weather on the day
- Bring your camera!

XY GT Falcon
In 1967 the Australian motoring landscape would change forever. In an effort to topple Holden’s market reign, Ford Australia launched a new model they labelled “GT”. The first XR GT boasted a V8, slick handling and looks. It was ahead of its time.
Powered by a 351 cubic inch race engine, 4 speed ‘top loader’ gearbox and trick braking package, the XY GTHO Phase 3 captured the hearts and minds of the Australian public. It also captured the 1971 Bathurst title.
Ford Falcon Coupe 1978 XC Cobra
A total of 400 were built, with 351 V8’s accounting for half of them, whilst 302 V8’s accounted for the balance. A variety of options were available including air conditioning, power steering and windows, as well as a sound system and other comfort creatures.
Interesting fact: The XC Cobra was the fist Australian car to be individually numbered in sequence. The number of the build was featured on the glove box – a feature that would be copied in Brock Commodores and other Australian classics thereafter.
1978 Holden LX SS Torana
In 1974 Holden upsized the Torana. The first Torana models were smaller and more nimble, and also featured fast 6 cylinder engines. Whilst the 2 door hardtops proved a hit for those looking for sporty V8’s, buyers were spoilt for choice with 4 door SLR/5000 models offering a balance between sporty ambitions and family commitments!
On the road the Torana was a light weight compared to the larger Ford Falcons. Its 308 V8 offered a mountain of torque. Performance figures recorded by an early-build, four-speed SL/R5000 confirm that 0-100km/h arrived in 7.9secs with a best 0-400m time of 15.9secs.
1985 HDT Brock VK Group A Commodore
Peter Brock. No other name is more closely connected with Holden. Brocky left an ever-lasting legacy amongst the general public, let alone motor racing fans. Whether you’re blue-blooded Ford fanatic, or a blood red Holden lover, Peter Brock left his mark on our community.
This car's distinctive paint scheme – blue over white wheels – makes an iconic looking car. Its success on the racetrack offers a direct link to the road cars. Built in limited numbers, its desirability continues to climb. For its time this car was a very advanced handling and performing car, with its V8 producing 200kW.
1982 XE ESP Ford Fairmont Ghia 351
This is a rare car, being one of the few all-over Charcoal painted cars and is an original all matching-numbers car. What makes our XE ESP particularly interesting is that it was one of only a few that Ford Australia exported to New Zealand. In 2008 The Australian Muscle Car Experience returned the car to Australia.
The XE ESP was more than a luxurious cruiser. Lowered springs and trick Bilstein shock absorbers were fitted. German made Scheel sports bucket seats were a feature, along with unique trim that was not replicated until 2009. Full sports instrumentation was offered, along with unique 2 tone paint schemes, with special alloy gold flake 15 inch rims. Disc brakes all round made the XE ESP a reasonable prospect when driving hard, whilst 4 speed manual gearboxes were the ONLY option!
30th Anniversary EL GT
In 1997, Motor magazine paired Australian touring car legends Peter Brock and Allan Moffat to review a selection of classic Aussie muscle cars to decide which car was the best. Cars included the 1997 HSV VS GTS-R, XY GTHO Phase 3, Valiant Charger and a VH SS Brock Commodore. Both Moffat and Brock agreed that the 30th Anniversary EL GT was the best of the bunch.
It’s often said that you either love this car or you hate it. This is all to do with its controversial styling more than its performance. Some people refer to it as something out of Mad Max – an apocalyptic styling with industrial overtones – especially with the vertical furnace-like grill. Some people have referred to the EL GT as ‘Darth Vader’. The rear wing is tall and radically scalloped and some people refer to it as the bat-mobile or a steam train.
FPV FG GT #128
In 2008 FPV released the all new range of GT’s. Boasting 315kW and over 550Nm of torque, the 5.4 litre ‘Boss’ V8 is the most powerful naturally aspirated Ford to be sold in Australia. It’s 0 – 100kph acceleration dropped to just 5.9 seconds whilst a ¼ mile time was the best ever – Motor magazine capturing the GT at 13.9 seconds.
This GT is fitted with the fantastic ZF 6 speed sequential automatic and has been lowered with super low King springs. Other modifications include the exhaust system which is now meatier and louder than standard. Other modifications included deleted striping in favor of an original re-issued Victoria registration number that most subtly tells the story – BOS 315!
1988 Holden Commodore VL Group A SS
In 1987 Holden and Tom Walkinshaw Racing established HSV – Holden Special Vehicles. The all-new operation would replace the successful HDT Special Vehicles. Realistically it had big shoes to fill. After all, the Peter Brock special vehicle was a big hit with consumers.
At the time, HSV managing director John Crennan was quoted as saying “…to some people it may be over the top, but everything on the vehicle is there for a good reason. In many ways this is the most advanced car ever produced in Australia”.
E2 HSV R8 CLUBSPORT
The 2010 HSV Clubsport R8 heralded a new era in Australian performance motoring. Though engine performance was improved to some degree, improvements in other dynamic areas are the highlights. Styling is the most obvious changes looking at the car. Day time running lamps are perhaps the most notable addition to the cars appearance, however new bumpers and a chunky look are also visual enhancers. Add to this the twin ‘nostrils’ in the bonnet and the Series 2 R8 ‘Clubbie’ looks very mean.
On the inside the cabin offers a purposeful layout, with body hugging sports seats and sporty dash integration. Mod cons are covered – air con, power windows and powerful sound system are just a few luxuries.
