Caving Adventure, Yarra Junction or Labertouche - Melbourne
Climb into the truly adventurous underground world and explore a maze of underground ‘boulder’ caves where you will find phosphorous ‘glow’ worms & cave crickets. Our caving adventure uses two caving location which means it is suitable for both beginners & intermediate cavers! While caving at Yarra Junction is an ideal introduction to adventure caving with up to 10 different entrances and exits, Labertouche Cave is more adventurous with only one entry and another exit point. Both will open your eyes to a whole new world that exists beneath the ground's surface.
Your day commences with a 4WD trek into the site, activity briefing covering equipment and the geological history of the cave. Large granite boulders formed the cave system that you will be exploring. Over the thousands of years, the gaps between these rocks were filled with debris such as clay, then washed away and shaped by the river running through.
The entrance and exit to the cave involves the use of ladders and/or ropes and your journey in the cave will see you exploring chambers and tunnels.Teamwork is encouraged as participants navigate their way through the maze of passages and squeezes to reach their exit point. Your guides will be there to assist exploration and safety. There is much to discover inside the caves including glow worms, cave crickets and other invertebrates. Get ready to crawl, climb, abseil and get downright dirty!

More Information
Tours run on designated dates once per month. If you have group of 4 or more let us know your preferred date/s. Minimum numbers are required for a trip to go ahead, usually a minimum of 3 people.
We operate at two different caving locations both about 90 minutes drive from Melbourne. Transport in our 4WD Troop carrier is provided from our designated meeting points as the dirt roads into the caves are not suitable for most 2WD cars. Caving location cannot be confirmed until time of booking. If you don't have your own transport to meet at the designated meeting point, transport can instead be organised from Lilydale Station (Yarra Junction Caves) or Dandenong Station (Labertouche Cave), please advise at time of booking whether you require pick up from one of these locations as they will determine your meeting time.
Please note that new "Fire Danger Ratings" are now in place for Victoria. All tours will be subject to suitable weather and fire safety conditions as advised by relevant authorities. This may mean tours are postponed at short notice as Total Fire Ban Days are not declared until late afternoon on the day prior. This is beyond the tour operator's control, and we appreciate your understanding.
