As part of the Asia Pacific “Blast Off with Turbo Boost – Win a Trip to the Edge of Space” promotion around the launch of the 2010 Intel® Core™ Processor Family, Adrenalin took 10 very lucky competition winners to Russia to experience an edge of space flight in a Russian MIG-29 fighter jet. In October, the winners spent four nights/five days in Russia, taking in the historic sights of Moscow including Red Square and the Kremlin. From Moscow they travelled to Nizhny Novgorod, home of the Sokol Airbase & MIG manufacturing plant. |

Nizhny Novgorod, located 400kms north east of Moscow, (formerly known as Gorky) is located at the intersection of the Volga and Oka rivers and offers some unique scenery and tourist sites. It’s in Nizhny that the MIG-29 flights take place at the Sokol airbase. The winners were given a tour of the airbase museum (they’ve been manufacturing aircraft there for over 76 years!) and were then suited up in their pressure suits in readiness for their once in a lifetime experience. They flew to a virtual “no man’s land” where few aircraft are capable of flying and where they saw the curvature of the Earth. The pilots were Russia's finest top gun test pilots and they had the best seat in the house for an unforgettable view of planet Earth! The overall promotion was a huge success.
