Great White Shark Dive, Port Lincoln - 3 Day Expedition

location: Port Lincoln Marina
item: GR12318EA
quantity:

South Australia is the ideal location for diving with Great White Sharks. This liveaboard diving adventure departs from Port Lincoln, and heads out into the clear blue waters of the Southern Ocean. At the Neptune Islands you will see an array of wildlife, including many bird species, dolphins, thousands of fur seals, and the beautiful and rare Australian sea lion. This area is also the natural feeding ground of the Great White Shark. You may have seen these sharks on television documentaries wrapping their enormous jagged mouths around cages and wondered what it’s like to be face-to-face with these incredible creatures. You can experience this exciting adventure first hand by letting us put you in a specially designed shark proof cage, in the ocean off Adelaide, in sight of the most feared aquatic animal in the world - the Great White Shark. This is adrenalin at peak intensity! You can board at Port Lincoln with Andrew Fox, son of Rodney Fox. Your team have an incredible knowledge of these creatures and have designed these expeditions and the purpose specific shark proof cages for viewing the Great Whites off the coast of South Australia. Joining an expedition during the recognised “high activity season”, you will maximise your opportunities to sight Great White Sharks and can confidently expect good shark activity on most, if not every day of your tour. South Australia is one of the few locations worldwide that offers this incredible adventure.

Departure Day: Guests will board the vessel on the morning of departure by 9am. We travel out through the sheltered gulf waters and islands of Spencer Gulf and the Thorny Passage. Depending on the weather, group wishes, and recent shark activity down at the Neptunes we often look to stop off at Hopkins Island to snorkel with a small group of the extremely rare and beautiful Australian Sea lions. Here we also look to gain a feed of abalone, and when in season perhaps a rock lobster to enjoy later on the trip. If the weather is not suitable for the seals we go directly to the Neptune islands and the sharks.

On location with the sharks: Once on location we start chumming and watch out for sharks. We start cage diving in the surface cages and submersible cage dives usually wait until the second day down to the bottom below. When conditions allow we also offer island excursions. After a test dive to orientate new divers with the shark cage divers are encouraged to enter and exit the cages at their leisure. There is plenty of time just to relax, get involved in our research programs, or just enjoy the shark action topside. Our activities revolve around the shark activity, the shore parties, mealtimes and special talks. After dinner and our special talks, the nights are free to stargaze, view the days video and pictures, and story telling. We generally stay on location during the day, and usually only move location during the night to give us maximum daytime productivity.

Last Day: Arrival back in Port Lincoln: After a full day on location we depart after 6pm for the return journey back to Port Lincoln, arriving to our homeport after 10pm. Most passengers stay onboard the vessel again this night and depart the following morning. Alternatively, it is possible to pre-arrange alternative accommodation in Port Lincoln with a late night entry. Flights out from Port Lincoln can not be taken until the following morning.

If arriving in Port Lincoln prior to the day of departure, you will need to organise your own accommodation
