Nothing compares to the exhilaration of learning to pilot a helicopter. Most budding helicopter pilots describe their first trial helicopter lesson experience as more exhilarating than skydiving!

At Strathalbyn Airfield (just 1hr South of the CBD), you will be introduced to your helicopter instructor and to the dual-control training helicopter. Your helicopter training session will begin with a briefing about what makes a helicopter fly, what the various controls do and what you must do whilst flying the helicopter. Then you’re off on a 20-minute helicopter training flight.

Within the first five minutes you'll be trying your hand at the helicopter controls. One by one, more helicopter controls will be introduced to you until, toward the end of the helicopter training flight, you could have full control. You'll be able to test your skills by maintaining a steady flight path, changing direction and experimenting with hover control. This helicopter introductory training flight is one of Adelaide's greatest adventures.

My helicopter introductry flight was excellent! I was expecting it to be more or less a joy flight or training in a confined area to one side of the airport, but I was wrong! You get to take all of the controls and fly the helicopter over the surrounding suburbs. This is the very same format as is used if you were undertaking your first private license lesson. This is something I will never forget and am now seriously thinking of doing my entire helicopter license!

Best to do this one when you have a day off the next day, I got no sleep that night, I was buzzing for days from the adrenalin. I'd never been in a Helicopter before, after 5 minutes up in the air I was flying one over the beautiful coastline myself!

awesome fun, much different feeling to what I expected which made the experience more enjoyable. The pilot was excellent, calm (thank goodness) and helpful. I wanted more.
