Surfing, Learn to Surf at Manly Beach - Sydney 1hr Private Lesson
You’ve seen the epic surf on Endless Summer and Big Wednesday. Now it’s your turn…start small and feel the freedom and power as you ride down the glass like face of the perfect wave. Surfing lessons are for beginners right through to advanced surfers. Complete beginners can experience the rush of catching their first wave.
All lessons - beginners through to pro - progress through the skills of surfing according to the students' abilities and previous experience. The instructors will start by checking the surf conditions with you and lead into the warm up to prepare your body for a session of surfing fun, entertainment and improvement. Beginners sessions These lessons will cover the basics of riding a surfboard and how to catch a wave, surf awareness and ocean conditions (rips, currents, tides) all whilst you are on the beach.
The focus is to introduce you as a beginner surfer to the pure thrill and addiction of surfing a great wave, but also to educate you on the dangers of the ocean and the importance of fitness and safety. Techniques you will learn include: How to ride a surfboard, surf awareness, surf safety, warm-up and stretches. Your lesson is 2hrs in duration, and will help you progress through the skills of surfing according to your abilities and previous experience.

Fitness and Experience
- Come one, come all and learn the basics or improve your techniques all the way to pro level
- We cater for any skill level but participants must be able to swim and feel confident in the water
- Fitness is a definite advantage and we recommend that kids are 7 years or older
What to Bring/Wear
- Bring a swimsuit & towel
- Wear clothes suited to the weather on the day
- Remember to pack your sunscreen and lip balm
- If you are an experienced surfer, bring your beloved board as well
What is Supplied
- All equipment including a surfboard suited to your abilities and size and a Quiksilver wetsuit
- For beginners we use soft, stable surfboard which are easy to balance, paddle, stand and surf on
- Professional and friendly surf instruction
- Change rooms and showers
- Storage for your valuables
- We recommend you bring as little as possible.

Be warned it’s not as easy as the pros make it look. In fact, I’ve heard many an international comedian state that it would be easier to eat handfuls of sand and drink a bucket of salt water!
But they weren’t in the company of Matt Grainger and his team of friendly, Surfing Australia qualified instructors. Matt himself has been teaching surfing since 1984 and is more than qualified with many years experience competing in pro events as well as being Head Coach of the NSW team, Level 1 Presenter and current NSW and Northern Beaches Champion. The surf school team are all Surfing Australia Level 1 qualified instructors, all hold senior First Aid and Advanced resuscitation, have competed in ASP pro events and have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience and 15 years surfing experience. So you are definitely in expert hands.
