Forget boring old whale watching cruises! The Ocean Extreme 2 fast boat ride brings an extreme element to Whale Watching, there's just nothing else like it in Sydney. You'll be taken on an exciting and unforgettable journey to see the Whales in their natural habitat on a giant purpose-built fast boat. Ocean Extreme 2 is powered by triple 300hp outboard engines, which can propel this vessel to speeds up to 50 knots (100km/h) – speeds far greater than a jet boat.

Your 60-90 minute high-speed whale watching boat tour starts with a leisurely cruise out of Darling Harbour before turning up the power and blasting towards the open ocean, stopping to pick up extra passengers at Manly Wharf. After punching through the heads and into the South Pacific, you're taken on a high-speed cruise out to see the whales - your skipper is in constant contact with other boat drivers to find the most friendly and approachable whale pods.

Ocean Extreme 2 has been purpose-built to exacting standards and undergone thorough testing; it's more than capable of handling the pace. Your crew are fully qualified and will point out places of interest along the way.

Morning tours depart daily on demand. At weekends, once the morning tour is full an additional afternoon tour may operate.

This was a my second time on this ride, and just as good if not better than the first. Just as it was for the first ride the second was a quality service and product. Having fun staff helped too, Thanks heaps. Keep it up guys!!!

My partner and i enjoyed ourselves enormously. The extreme whale watching staff were fantastic; very friendly, enthusiastic, and professional. The ride was outstanding, we were left wanting more! I had an awesome time, and the entire experience from booking (using my gift voucher) to the actual Ocean Extreme adventure was fantastic. Overall 9 out of 10 - I deducted one point because I could have stayed out there all day, the time just seemed to go too fast I was having so much fun!

Fitness and Experience

No particular level of fitness or experience is required
Minimum height 150cm, minimum inside leg 80cm (31 inches) to straddle the seats
People with existing neck/back injuries or who are pregnant are strongly advised not to participate
Adventurers must be over 12 years

What to Bring/Wear

Comfortable clothes suitable to the weather on the day – eg. shorts, t-shirt and runners
Skirts are not a good idea as you will be straddling your seat
Sunscreen and sunglasses as the glare on the water can be quite fierce

What is Supplied

Optional life jackets are available and are recommended if you are not confident in the water
Wet weather gear and goggles are optional may be worn over normal clothing
Allow a maximum of 2hrs (from Darling Harbour) or 1.5hrs (from Manly) whale watching ride on Ocean Extreme 2 with two fantastic crew members (times given are a guideline, we're at the mercy of the whales!)

DEPARTURES FROM DARLING HARBOUR: Typically at 9:45 AM or 1:15 PM (check your departure time on your booking confirmation)

DEPARTURES FROM MANLY WHARF: Typically at 10:15 AM or 1:45 PM (check your departure time on your booking confirmation)

Tour times are approximately 1.5hrs (if we're cruising with a huge pod of Whales we may stay with them a little longer). We recommend you are a little flexible in case of a late return.
