The S.S Yongala Shipwreck is a national historic site and lies within the beautiful Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. The artefacts, marine life and variety of corals that cover the wreck are spectacular. It’s a dive experience you’ll remember for the rest of your life! The S.S Yongala sank during a cyclone in 1911 with the loss of all on board. It was not until 1958 that the wreck was discovered and due to its remote location it has remained mostly untouched. The wreck begins 14m below the surface and extends to 28m. Since it is the only reef structure in the region, the marine life gathers at the wreck providing for an unforgettable diving experience. Now you are able to dive the Yongala on this fantastic one day dive trip. During this one day Yongala trip you will participate in 2 dives.
All divers are required to present certification cards and log books on board. Sea conditions …The crew will make every effort to help you enjoy your dive. However please be advised that surface conditions on the Yongala Wreck may be choppy due to the location of the dive site, and divers may encounter moderate currents. We recommend you talk to a pharmacist about sea sickness medication prior to departure.
