Skydiving, Learn To Skydive, AFF Course Stage 1 - Mission Beach, Cairns
The Accelerated Free Fall (AFF) skydiving course is the most comprehensive introduction to sports skydiving and consists of nine stages comprising a minimum of 11 jumps. You will free fall on your first jump! Day 1 is spent learning theory in our classroom, beginning at 7.30 am and finishing about 4.00 in the afternoon. Day 2 is your first jump exiting the plane at 12,000 ft with two Instructors holding on. Landing is under the direct assistance of the Target Control Officer.
Once you have demonstrated an understanding of the skydiving skills learnt during your ground training you can progress to a skydiving jump wearing your own parachute and with two skydiving instructors, one on each side of you. They are there to hold on to the grips on your jumpsuit to help maintain your stability during freefall and to check your altitude awareness before deployment.
Once you have successfully deployed your parachute you will commence the final stage of your skydiving adventure – landing. You'll have clear air to fly through while you're guided back to earth by your Target Control Officer (TCO) on the ground. Your skydiving parachute system, specially designed for skydiving students, comprises a ram air main canopy, a ram air reserve canopy and an Automatic Activation Device. Once the skydiving course is over, the sky's the limit! This experience is for stage 1 of the course, of which there are a total of 9 stages. You will jump straight onto the beautiful Mission Beach, just south of Cairns.

I had an absolutely amazing time doing the AFF course over the weekend! I completed stages 1 & 2 yesterday and I'm going back to the Picton DZ on Saturday for stages 3 & 4, this is one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had. I'm hooked on adrenalin now, I'll definitely be back for more... Thank you for providing me with the opportunity...
