- Full day tour including lunch
- Opportunity to see dolphins
- Tour of the former Quarantine Station
This Sorrento Sea Kayaking adventure is for people who want to get away from it all! Your experience begins with a short discussion on the format for the day including lunch break, distance expected to paddle and weather conditions. You are then kitted up with a PFD, spray deck, paddle jacket, thermals and a paddle before the all important Kayak safety briefing including a dry capsize drill. Most sea kayaks are double sea kayaks (Pittaraks) with a couple of single kayaks available for the more experienced paddlers in the group.
You'll then set out on the adventure paddling as one group, with knowledgable commentary on environmental features and local history. Sights you'll see along the way include dolphins, seals, sea eagles, commorants, fish, boat wrecks, historical buildings, marinas and yachts. Lunch and drinks are prepared for all participants about half way through the trip at the Old Quarantine Station (a short tour of the former Quarantine Station is included). Then you'll return to the start, gear is packed away and you can change into some warm clothes.
This adventure takes place between September to May, and is the perfect way to see the picturesque Sorrento locale. Warning - kayaking is seriously addictive!

More Information
Sorrento and Portsea are both historical seaside holiday resorts endowed with maritime and early settlement history. You can 'pass back in time' as you paddle along the foreshore, observing historical houses along the cliff tops, outdoor swimming enclosures, the former quarantine station and some historical shipping wrecks. As you move closer to Pt Nepean, built up areas are left and dolphins, sea eagles, cormorants etc. may be observed.
The trip is weather dependant, particularly the strength of the wind and the effect on wave and swell size. Trips will be cancelled if the forecast is for 20 knots or above. Staff will contact participants 2 days before hand to confirm go ahead. Cancelled trips will be rescheduled.
Customers need to sign an indemnity form and medical form before they commence the trip.
All staff have a sea kayaking guide or instructors qualification, level 2 first aid or wilderness first aid and at least 5 years experience.
The experience lasts 6 hours in total, from 9.30am to 3.30pm. The trips run on demand from mid September to mid May.
