The Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race will start on 26 December and will be conducted on the waters of Sydney Harbour, the Tasman Sea, Storm Bay and the Derwent River. Over the past 65 years, the Rolex Sydney Hobart has become an icon of Australia’s summer sport, ranking in public interest with such national events as the Melbourne Cup horse race, the Davis Cup tennis and the cricket tests between Australia and England. Few other yachting events worldwide attract media coverage like this does with over 40% of viewers coming from outside of Australia.
You will train on the stunning Sydney Harbour in the run up to the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Race. You will practice all aspects of offshore yacht racing and learn your roles and how to handle this exciting race machine. During the training period you will spend time offshore on a Sydney to Hobart qualifying passage, and also help get the yacht ready for its Rolex Sydney to Hobart Race campaign with the many dockside tasks imperative to a successful offshore yacht race.
