Sydney to Hobart Return Leg
- Strictly limited to 6 places on the return leg of the Sydney To Hobart Yacht Race
- Sail the return leg from Hobart To Sydney (not from Sydney To Hobart!)
- Experienced crew and divisional winner ex-record holding vessel
- You will practice all aspects of sailing this exciting race machine along the way
Nothing will challenge you more than 600 miles of tough ocean sailing on this fantastic performance ocean racer.
Merit, a former VOLVO 60 round-the-world racing yacht, has contested many offshore races since coming to Australia sailing under various names including Indec Merit, News Corp and Line 7 (under which name she set a record for the then 408 nm Gosford to Lord Howe Island Race!).
This VOLVO 60 was refitted in preparation for the 2008 Rolex Sydney - Hobart Yacht Race and is in top race condition. In the 2008 Rolex Sydney - Hobart Yacht Race Merit was 1st in her division and 16th overall on line honours. In 2009 she was 4th in class and last year she came 2nd in division in one of the toughest races in a few years.
Sailors depart Hobart on 2nd or 3rd of January and retrace the route of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. On your return to the stunning pictuesque Sydney Harbour, you will practice all aspects of offshore sailing, learning various roles as well as how to handle this exciting race machine along the way.
