This 30 minute Aerobatic Mission is the perfect introduction for you to discover true three-dimensional flight.

Our experienced pilots will take you through some basic manoeuvres such as Loops, Barrel Rolls, the Split S, and the Stall Turn.

Your pilot will be in communication with you to whole way and If and when you are feeling up to it they will then move onto some more advanced manoeuvres like the Hammerhead or Cuban Eight. This is an exciting experience that will really get your heart racing and your adrenalin pumping.

The only downside is that after this experience, normal roller coasters will never quite have the same luster.

The staff at Air Combat were great. The safety breifing was extremely professional and helpful for when we were in the air. Jay really looked out for me during the flight and adjusted the flight as needed. Overall, a fabulous experience.

About your aircraft

Yakovlev Yak-52

The Yakovlev Yak-52 is a two seater Soviet primary trainer aircraft which first flew in 1976.

Designed originally for the training of students who would later transition to Soviet jet aircraft, the aerobatics-capable (+7g / -5 g) aircraft has become a favorite around the world for its aerobatic performance. A descendant of the single-seat competition aerobatic Yakovlev Yak-50, the all-metal Yak-52 is powered by a 268 kW (360 hp) Vedeneyev M14P 9-cylinder radial engine.

A descendant of the single-seat champion aerobatic Yak-50, but with a tricycle-geared undercarriage that makes it appear more like the earlier Yak-18, the all-metal aircraft is powered by a 360 hp radial engine, the Ivchenko M-14P, with an inverted fuel system that permits inverted flight for as long as two minutes, while drawing fuel from a five gallon reserve tank. The engine drives a two-bladed counter-clockwise rotating, variable-pitch, wooden propeller.

Described as an easy airplane to fly, with a fast roll rate, especially to the right, the Yak-52 takes some time for flyers accustomed to hydraulics to adjust to. This is because the plane uses air pressure to operate the brakes (as well as the flaps and landing gear) and also because the non-steerable nose wheel calls for differential braking. Air lines to each cylinder, used for starting the engine, may easily be mistaken for a fuel injection arrangement.

At just 2,200 lbs. empty weight the plane is quite light and agile. While the landing gear is fully retractable, it remains partially-exposed in the retracted position. This provides a measure of protection should the plane be forced to land "wheels up." Capable of operating from unimproved grass runways, the aircraft is easily maintained even "in the field."
