This is a rafting experience to remember. A true wilderness adventure taking you through Australia's spectacular High Country and camping overnight alongside the Upper Murray River, by an open camp fire, under the stars. Over the course of 24kms you'll experience grade 1-3 rapids on day one and raft through the famous Murray Gates Gorge grade 3-4 on day two. Day One: At the put in you will have the opportunity to practice paddle strokes and enjoy some beautiful scenery, perhaps even spot an elusive platypus. Feast on a hearty lunch by the river, then continue rafting on to the wilderness camp site. Your dry clothes and overnight gear awaits you (brought in by 4WD). Enjoy a late afternoon bush walk, go fishing, play volley ball, or cards or just relax in the beautiful mountain setting while your evening meal is prepared around a crackling campfire. Day Two: Awake to the smell of a cooked breakfast and freshly brewed coffee. Today we use the skills learnt on day one. Not long after hitting the river we enter the stretch known as The Murray Gates Gorge and encounter the rapids. "The Wall", "Guides Mistake", "Sharks Tooth", and "Himalayan Wrap" are a combination of grade 2 to grade 4 rapids. More rapids keep the Adrenalin pumping through to lunch where we stop and enjoy this magnificent river corridor. After lunch we continue rafting with many more enjoyable rapids to Little Bunroy, where our bus awaits with your dry clothes and afternoon snacks. We usually arrive back at Khancoban General Store by 5.30pm. Please note it is a good idea to arrive at the Khancoban store with plenty of fuel for your return journey.
